Carne Golf Links
First Established: 1995
Designed By: Eddie Hackett
Carne Golf Links, located in a stunningly remote corner of County Mayo, would become the last golf course designed by the late, prolific and globally-renowned Eddie Hackett, and the one which he subsequently, repeatedly proclaimed to be his best, and the finest canvas he’d ever been gifted. Mr Hackett also asserted that, “I find that nature is the best architect…I try to dress up what the Good Lord provides”, and truly our gracious Creator has sculpted an awe-inspiring landscape in which Carne Golf Links is situated.
This links course possesses frightfully soaring sand dunes, some of which stand over 500 feet above sea level, and a raw wildness sure to inspire fearful, energising delight with its chasm-like hollows, and mountainous climbs. It was recently and deservedly voted the seventh best course found anywhere in the U.K. and Ireland, and who can dispute with the late, great Eddie Hackett’s praise or the acclaim of golfing professionals, amateurs and journalists alike?!
