Day 1 – Departure for Germany

• Depart on your international overnight flight to Berlin

• Optional pre-tour night in Berlin available for travelers wishing to rest before the tour begins

• Prepare to explore key Reformation and historical sites across Germany

Day 2 – Arrival in Berlin

• Morning arrival at Berlin Airport, meet your tour leader and coach driver

• Pick up early arrivals from the pre-tour hotel

• Begin a panoramic city tour of Berlin, including photo stops at:

  • The Brandenburg Gate, symbol of German unity

  • The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, a poignant World War II ruin

  • The Berlin Cathedral and Reichstag Building (German Parliament)

  • The boulevards Unter den Linden and Kurfürstendamm

• Learn about Berlin’s transformation since reunification in 1990

• Visit the Checkpoint Charlie Museum, documenting stories from the Cold War era

• Check into Berlin hotel and enjoy group welcome dinner

Day 3 – Berlin to Wittenberg

• Morning visit to the Bonhoeffer Museum, honoring theologian and martyr Dietrich Bonhoeffer

  • Watch a short film about his life and legacy

• Depart Berlin for Wittenberg, birthplace of the Protestant Reformation (1517)

• Guided walking tour of Reformation sites, including:

  • The Castle Church door where Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses

  • St. Mary’s Church, where Luther regularly preached

  • Lutherhalle (Luther House) Museum, Luther’s former monastery home where he lived with Katharina von Bora and their six children

• Evening free to explore Wittenberg’s charming old town and riverfront

Day 4 – Buchenwald & Erfurt

• Depart Wittenberg and stop at Buchenwald Concentration Camp, where Bonhoeffer was imprisoned before his death in 1945

• Continue through the scenic Thuringian countryside to Erfurt, a key city in Luther’s early life

• Afternoon walking tour of Erfurt:

  • Visit the Augustinian Monastery, where Luther became a monk in 1505

  • Explore the Erfurt Cathedral and Krämer Bridge, one of Europe’s oldest inhabited bridges

  • Wander through Erfurt’s medieval streets and historic squares

• Group dinner and overnight in Erfurt

Day 5 – Eisenach & Rothenburg ob der Tauber

• Morning drive to Eisenach to visit Wartburg Castle, where Luther translated the New Testament into Germanwhile in hiding (1521–1522)

• Learn about his translation’s profound impact on the German language and faith

• Afternoon transfer to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a beautifully preserved medieval walled town on Germany’s Romantic Road

• Explore the cobbled streets, city gates, and timbered houses of this storybook town

• Dinner together at the hotel

• Evening Night Watchman’s Tour, a guided walk through Rothenburg’s old streets illuminated by lantern light

Day 6 – Neuschwanstein & Munich

• Travel south through Bavaria to visit Neuschwanstein Castle, the fairytale fortress built by King Ludwig II, and inspiration for Disney’s castle

• Afternoon guided tour of Munich, capital of Bavaria:

  • Drive past the Olympic Stadium, Nymphenburg Palace, Deutsches Museum, and Old & New Pinakothek art museums

  • Walking tour through the historic Marienplatz, Frauenkirche, and the New City Hall with its Glockenspiel show

• Evening Farewell Dinner at the famous Hofbräuhaus, Munich’s legendary beer hall — celebrate new friendships and reflect on the journey

• Final overnight in Munich

Day 7 – Departure

• Morning transfer to Munich Airport for return flight home

• Depart Germany with deepened understanding of Martin Luther, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and the faith movements that shaped history

Cancellations

Regardless of reason, cancellations are costly, so we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance:

INDIVIDUAL CANCELLATIONS: All cancellations must be in writing.

• From the time of deposit until 100 days before departure, a $150 per person penalty.

• From 99-30 days before departure $350 per person penalty plus any non-refundable deposits to airlines or ground suppliers.

• An individual cancelling less than 30 days before departure will receive NO REFUND.

• Cancellations must be received in writing by 5:00 p.m. central time on the last business day of the applicable time period.

• For flight changes or cancellations, revision fees and/or airline cancellation charges will apply.

• Roommates cancelling can result in a single supplement charge for the roommate. The Participant who cancels will be responsible for that charge if a substitute roommate cannot be found.

• Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance is strongly recommended.

• EdenGate Travel cannot assume responsibility for any additional costs or fees relating to the issuance and/or cancellation of air tickets or other arrangements not made through EdenGate.
